How to Connect a Laptop to TV

If you are not satisfied by the display of your laptop you can connect your laptop to TV for enjoying better display. Watching movies and videos on a big screen is always beautiful. There are many ways to connect a laptop to TV depending on the ports and cable slots provided on your TV and laptop. This article will guide you to connect a laptop to TV.
Recent televisions support a lot of different types of connections. Latest TV’s and laptops provide high video and audio quality as well as easy way connections between them. These connection types are HDMI DVI or VGA. VGA signals provide an analog signal where as HDMI and DVI provide digital signal of high quality.

HDMI Connection

High definition multimedia interface (HDMI) port resembles a USB port but it is longer and thinner than USB ports. It is used for high definition connections. You will not need separate audio cables if you are using HDMI cable. Branded HDMI cables are costly but you can use any HDMI cable supporting you TV or laptop as any HDMI cable is capable of sending all signals without any loss. Simply connect the HDMI cable to your TV and laptop and you can enjoy high quality videos and movies.

DVI (Digital Visual Interface)

DVI ports are commonly found on desktop computers rather than laptops and TV’s. DVI sends digital signals for video output. It can be adapted to HDMI by using DVI cables. It also produces great quality output. But you have to connect an audio cable with DVI because it does not carry audio signals.

VGA (Visual Graphics Array)

These connections are common on computers and TV’s. VGA connections give good picture quality but not as better as HDMI or DVI. VGA connection also does not carry sound. These were used in older laptops and TV’s but may not be available in newer laptop models.

Audio Connections

You can either use the speakers connected to your computer or laptop, or you can use separate cable with your connection for audio signals. Normally 3.5 mm jack is provided in the TV to connect an audio cable.
